  3. Stir in 3 1\2 cups of oats – processed into a powder in food processor or Vitamix
  4. Fold in carrots and spinach
  5. Lay a large piece of parchment paper on counter with the other 1/2 cup oatmeal powder
  6. Roll dough ball in oat powder, making sure it is well coated before pressing dough apx 1 inch thick
  7. Use cookie cutters to cut desired shapes into dough, roll up left over dough to press flat again. Repeat until all dough had been used.
  8. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet
  9. Brush with egg wash for extra pretty cookies
  10. Bake 30 – 35 minutes until lightly browned on the edges. This makes a soft cookie. If you want a crunchy cookie – reduce temp to 200 and leave in the oven for an hour, checking every 10 minutes until you’ve reached your desired crunch level
Recipe Notes

Any way you stack them, these will be a huge hit with your four legged fuzzy children. Got friends with dogs? Add a few of these with your cookie gifts this holiday season for a special touch that will make your gift stand apart from the others.  Meet Gidget – my fat, snorty silly pug. I could say “If Gidge loves them then so will your dog”, but I’d be lying. You see, pugs are glutens. They eat anything and everything with gusto. And I mean ANYTHING. Because they are such pigs, my pugs NEED healthy treats. This is a cookie that I don’t feel guilty feeding my snorting pig of a pug!

I chose to use carrots and spinach in this recipe, but they could easily be switched out with sweet potatoes, peas, kale, Brussels sprouts, egg shells, and so much more. Be sure to watch out for more homemade dog cookie recipes coming soon!

Here is how to make these Forking EPIC Homemade Dog Cookies…

In a mixer with the paddle attachment – mix pumpkin, peanut butter, and eggs until smooth Stir in 3 1\2 cups of oats – processed into a powder in food processor or Vitamix Fold in carrots and spinach. Lay a large piece of parchment paper on counter with the other 1/2 cup oatmeal powder. Roll dough ball in oat powder, making sure it is well coated Press dough apx 1 inch thick Use cookie cutters to cut desired shapes into dough, roll up left over dough to press flat again. Repeat until all dough had been used. I wanted some cookies smaller than the bone cookie cutter I have, so I used an X from my cookie cutter set. It easily reshaped into a small bone shapes – although I don’t think Gidget noticed (or cares) what shape I make these treats into. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Brush with eggwash for extra pretty cookies.  Flatten little balls with a fork to make smaller bite sized cookies that don’t need a cookie cutter. Isn’t he a pretty boy? He knows it too! When we go on outings, this guy struts around like the royalty he thinks he is. And, like a true king, he has been spoiled. (Anyone who wouldn’t spoil this EPIC dog is crazy!) These cookies pass my picky guy’s test.  Afterall, a king gets nothing but the best! These dog cookies will be a treat that you can feel good about giving your fur baby any time of year. My guys know when I am making them and sit “patiently” underfoot until they are ready to eat.
